BRUNSWICK - Spindleworks has just turned 30 and for all those years has provided an artistic home for people with special needs. What began as a small local day program, devoted to using weaving and fiber arts as a way for mentally challenged adults to express their creativity, has blossomed into a full-blown arts center serving 40 artists, working in a variety of media. They are mentored by local artists, bath staff and volunteer.

BRUNSWICK - ‘Public transportation’ in the midcoast has been pretty much a matter of paratransit services provided by CoastalTrans. Paratransit was developed to meet the needs of people who are unable - physically or financially - to drive their own vehicles to get where they need to go. It's a social service, subsidized as part of an effort to meet the real barriers to mobility of people such as senior citizens, people with disabilities, children who need special services.

The Seattle Times Company cited ongoing challenges in the industry and the need to focus on the future of its flagship newspaper, The Seattle Times, as well as affiliated newspapers in Washington state.
