BNAS closure cost PDF Print E-mail
I feel betrayed … again … by my government.  We were lied to by Secretary Rumsfeld and BRAC.  It was egregious folly to expect financial savings and higher defense against attackers by closing BNAS.  I was right.

Unraveling PDF Print E-mail
I have worked in the Wiscasset school system for 20 years. It is a school system that is now, slowly and painfully, unraveling before my very eyes. There is no question that these are difficult times in which we live. We are a nation and a state that is struggling with a broken health care system, soaring oil prices, a flat housing market, a state budget that is in the red, a state school consolidation plan that has not been thoroughly planned and is being poorly implemented, and a long, cold winter. What do you do here at the [Tidemark] gallery? blamey.jpg

I’m one of the artists featured here, but I’m also one of the curators for the exhibits.  In the fall and the winter we have guest artists that come in and we devote very significant wall space to their work.  Audrey [Bechler] is one of the other curators here, we pick the work and hang the show and make sure the display is right.  Then we set up a schedule of guest artists from October through April, we basically work a year in advance.  I take care of PR and do the photography for the artists in the gallery.  And then I try to tackle a few paintings of my own, but I don’t have nearly as much time as I would like to work on them.

Thanks for supporting Courtney PDF Print E-mail
A huge thank you to everyone who helped support Courtney! The benefit concert Saturday night drew a great crowd, got people dancing in the aisles and raised over $2500 to help Courtney's rehabilitation. The Toughcats and the Pickled Beats put on a terrific show and the whole community showed their generosity. We're grateful to the Waldo Theatre for donating the great venue and the Narrows Tavern and Tidemark Gallery for donating a portion of their proceeds to the benefit.
