Town, developers release MSS plan |

BRUNSWICK - For a quarter of a century, the Town of Brunswick has held the rights to the last remaining parcel of undeveloped land on downtown Maine Street. The site is a “brownfield,” contaminated with coal ash that must be removed before anything else can happen there. But it sits next to the railroad track that many hope will one day carry passenger service from Portland and points south to Brunswick where it can link up with existing carriers.

BLRA presents final draft |

BRUNSWICK - “This is the Community's Plan.” That was how Brunswick Local Redevelopment Authority (BLRA) Chair Martin Wilk introduced the presentation of the all-but-final draft Master Reuse Plan for the Brunswick Naval Air Station (BNAS) site to a full house at the penultimate meeting of the Authority last week.

Railroad exceeds expectations . . . again |

ROCKPORT - For the second consecutive season, Maine Eastern Railroad has experienced double digit growth in its passenger excursion service. The railroad, a subsidiary of the Morristown and Erie Railway in New Jersey, announced a 26 percent increase over 2006 passenger numbers.

Theatre Review - 'Christmas Carol' lacks spirit |

PORTLAND - OK, call me Scrooge; I didn't like this presentation of A Christmas Carol. I tried to like it, honestly I did. After all, the source material is great; it's a wonderful tale of personal growth and it's about Christmas. And, it is presented at the Portland Stage Company, an organization for which I have tremendous respect and usually admire the work they do.
