I’ll go on record now and say that Think Tank, Blur’s swansong, is certainly the best album they ever produced (yes, better than even Parklife), and at the end of this decade should be remembered as a substantial artistic achievement in popular music.

Thom Yorke has just said something of interest to me.  In an interview with England’s NME, he said new Radiohead album In Rainbows is their “classic album,” their Revolver, their Hunky Dory.  He didn’t mention the songs in particular, just the 45:00 length.  He referred to this time code as their rock statement, which is a big deal for a band that has aggressively tried to kill rock over the last decade.

Looking at the gold packaging of a pound of “Matt’s Coffee,” you wouldn’t be able to tell that it is in fact a one-man operation.  Matt Bolinder, by his own admission, is the “roaster, delivery boy, secretary, and janitor” of “Matt’s Coffee,” headquartered in Pownal, where he lives, and operated in Waterville.  Like so many small business owners in the region, he never imagined himself in this most unique position:  To his knowledge he is the only roaster in the nation to roast 100% organic coffee with wood fire, producing specialty coffee that not only tastes great but is environmentally sound and sustainable.

BRUNSWICK - Eighty-six percent of all Iraq vets have known someone who was either killed or seriously wounded in the war. Eighty-nine percent of all Iraq vets have experienced being ambushed. Ninety-three percent have been shot at. Ninety-five percent have seen bodies that have died of violence.
