Winter weather brings more than colder temperatures, snowstorms and holiday celebrations. It also brings a significantly higher number of residential fires and accidental carbon monoxide (CO) poisonings, tragedies that can be prevented if appropriate safety precautions are in place.

Down at Turning Tide Cottage, the place was jumping on Boxing Day. For those of you not from Great Britain or Points North, Boxing Day is the day after Christmas, and its origins are possibly lost in the mists of time, but what we know for sure is that it is the day that people give gifts to their employees, servants, serfs, and friends. I only have just the one employee, and of servants and serfs I have none, alas, but I do have a shockingly large number of friends, and so it was that on Boxing Day all these folk were at my house to celebrate the Yule.

GEORGETOWN - The history of the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra began in a living room in 1990. Several local musicians gathered in one string player's living room, and they played some of their favorite music. More string players responded with interest, so a Midcoast Chamber Orchestra, whose amateur players were from the community, formed a few years later.
