Marathon theater events are not my favorite.  If I'm going to sit through a play almost three hours long, I'd like to see Katharine Hepburn or Laurence Olivier on the stage. But unfortunately, neither of them is available (due to death).

It was sunny on Saturday morning, down at Turning Tide Cottage, and some of the birds were hanging around by the feeder outside the living room window.  We had cardinals, chickadees, some kind of finch which I could not find in my field guide, and the occasional squirrel to liven things up.  Mr. Fierce, the black and white tuxedo cat, who needs to lose some weight but is under quarantine right now, chattered on the floor below the window to lure them to the feeder, then leaped with all his mass up onto the radiator shelf and scared them all away.  But they realized, I think, that he was housebound, because none of them went too far.

During 2007, the steepest decline in home ownership, led partly by the steepest rise in foreclosures since the Great Depression, had a chilling effect on the national economy.  Nationally, foreclosures were up 75%, the number of owner-occupied homes dropped 1.1% in a single year, and the drop in the sale price of homes is the largest since records began to be kept in the mid-sixties, a loss of over 7%.
