Correction: Ugly Kitchen Contest |

We mistakenly printed outdated information for Downeast Kitchens’ Ugly Kitchen Contest in the last issue of the Coastal Journal (July 10). The deadline to enter the contest had already passed on July 7, and as such Downeast Kitchens is not accepting any more applicants for the competition.
The winner of the contest will be announced Thursday July 17 at Downeast Kitchens in Brunswick between 5 and 7 p.m. All entrants must be in attendance to be eligible for the win. Thank you!

Brunswick Garden Tour Tickets on sale |

The Brunswick Garden Tour will take place on Sunday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The raindate will be the following Sunday, 27, from10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Hannafords, Skillins, Dyers, The Imperial Hosta, Bookland and The Gulf of Maine Bookstore. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the tour at the gazebo on Maine Street. The proceeds from the tour will benefit the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, sponsores of the Brunswick Soup Kitchen. the Food Pantry, the Food Bank, a Reaching Elders Program, and Wellness/Life Skills Workshops. BRUNSWICK - The Bowdoin International Music Festival offered up two works by Ludwig van Beethoven for its Fourth of July concert. The first piece was the Piano Sonata Number 30 in E Major, Opus 109, with Olivier Gardon performing the virtuoso piece.

Stroke and Osteoporosis Screening Coming to Topsham |

TOPSHAM - Residents living in and around the Topsham, Maine, community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke. Life Line Screening Radiology will be at the Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church on July 16. The site is located at 84 Main St in Topsham. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.
