SVCA explains intervener position on tidal |

As reported in a recent issue of the Coastal Journal [9/11, ‘Chewonki to aid Wiscasset tidal bid’], the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association (SVCA) has applied for and now been granted intervener status by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for Natural Currents Energy Services’ preliminary FERC permit proposal for a tidal power generation project in the Sheepscot River adjacent to the Mason Station.

We couldn’t agree more with the editorial [Fuelish Waste. 9/11] in last week’s paper. We have lived in Brunswick since we got married and there have been times when we can’t afford the basics, such as heating oil. It boils me to think that the government is wasting so much of our tax dollars at a time when they can’t even make sure that folks on fixed incomes can get enough oil to stay warm this winter.
