Bath takes an energy inventory |

BATH - A year ago, Bath Cool Communities, a local group of citizens concerned about global warming, made a presentation to the City Council about climate and energy concerns. At the time, fuel was expensive, but still falling within rational limits. Cool Communities asked the City to create a Climate Action Plan, and to sign the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement, which had already been signed by mayors and city officials from many cities from coast to coast, in every state of the union. The agreement is based on reducing energy use to below 1990 levels by 2012.

Maine Credit Unions offer special loan programs to help consumers heat homes |

|
WESTBROOK - A recent survey by the Maine Credit Union League found that nearly two-thirds of the state's credit unions are offering some sort of fuel assistance loans with some offering rates as low as 0% and an average loan rate of only 4.97%, with generous repayment terms offered. The survey also found that Maine credit unions have plenty of available funds to lend to consumers for these special loan programs as well as all other types of loans.
