Thank you all for your help this year. We were very lucky to have great weather and a great turnout. Your patience and guidance through this process has been much appreciated. I only talk to the newspapers once a year and it can get very confusing but because all of the midcoast papers work together to a certain degree (ads etc.), I have not felt the additional fear of offending anyone with mistakes or contacting the wrong person! Just like there's nothing quite like North Nobleboro Day, nothing can compare to a small and well loved (and read) local newspaper.

Something I saw on television made me realize that ever since people started living together in villages, leaders have emerged among them. Leaders were usually a foot or more taller than average. They were strong, intelligent, sometimes good looking and if they didn't want to lead, they were often encouraged to do so by men who recognized their worth.

Over the past couple of weeks or so I have read several letters to the editors favoring the "Employees Free Choice Act" but not one letter addresses the issue of a secret ballot. Instead, the writers quibble, weasel word around the issue. In the editorial's own words "----does not deny members the option of secret balloting in contract votes". Let’s read a part of the sentence again; "does not deny members the option---".
