Bath Rotary Club announces golf tournament date PDF Print E-mail

BATH - Annie Merry, President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Bath, recently announced the club’s largest annual fundraiser. The 17th Annual Golf Tournament, will be held at the Bath Country Club June18th with registration at 7 a.m. and shotgun start at 7:55.  This year’s lead sponsors are Springer’s Jewelers and the Bath Savings Institution.

Red Sox Hall of Fame inductee Bill “Spaceman” Lee will join the fun, hit a few balls and sign autographs with the golfers.
The tournament is being organized by Annie Merry and her committee, who said, “This year’s event also features a continental breakfast and a delicious buffet luncheon.” In addition to a putting contest, hundreds of dollars in prizes Merry said, “The Rotary Club of Bath is excited to raffle a Rolex watch, valued at $5,000, that has been generously donated by Springer’s Jewelers.  There are going to be a lot of very happy golfers on June 18th!”

Proceeds from the event will help fund local projects and student scholarships. The Club’s major project for this year is the “Nightscaping” of the steeples of the Elm Street Baptist Church and the Winter Street Church.

Raffle tickets are available from Bath Rotary members and will be sold at several locations in the area. Golfers interested in playing are should call Lou Ricciardone at 443-5012.

The Bath Rotary Club meets weekly at noon on Tuesdays at the Holiday Inn at Bath with speakers giving talks concerning local and state-wide cultural, civic and community interests.

The Rotary Club of Bath, organized in 1918, originally met at the King Tavern until its demolition to make way for the Carlton Bridge.  For 90 years the club has been providing local, national and international support for people and communities.

Through the Bath Rotary Trust, the club supports the annual construction, placement and sale of a single family home by the Morse High Vocational School. The club’s support includes the materials and tools for the construction project. Bath Rotary meets weekly at the Bounty Restaurant & Taverne at the Bath Holiday Inn, 139 Richardson Street, Bath.
