Harpswell Family wins “Ugly Kitchen Contest” PDF Print E-mail
BRUNSWICK - Henry and Mary Korsiak of Harpswell are the winners of Downeast Kitchens’ “Ugly Kitchen Contest.”  The Korsiaks were chosen as winners at an event last Thursday evening at the Downeast Building Supply store in Brunswick.  A panel of designers, selected by Downeast Kitchens, reviewed 31 entries (with no knowledge of the entrant’s names) and selected five finalists.  The winner was chosen by random drawing.

The Korsiak’s will receive the grand prize of a remodeled kitchen, a value of up to $10,000, which can include Diamond cabinets, countertops and a new sink/faucet.

“We are so thrilled to be the winners,” said Mary Kosiak.  “We have lived in the same house for 24-years and when we moved in, we had two children and then adopted three more.  After that, we never had time to make improvements to the house.”
Henry added, “We would like to thank Downeast Kitchens for this opportunity, and we’re looking forward to working with them.”

“We are extremely excited that the Korsiaks will have

the opportunity to renovate the kitchen in their home,” said Peter Bernier, vice president/general manager. “Our experienced kitchen design staff is ready to help guide them through the project.  We’re all looking forward to seeing the results.”

Downeast Kitchens launched the “Ugly Kitchen Contest” as part of the company’s 100th anniversary celebration, but according to Bernier, Downeast is tentatively planning to hold another makeover competition next year, with the possibility of expanding it beyond kitchen rennovation to other parts of the home.  Those plans are in their earliest stages of development.
