BRUNSWICK - F.W. Horch Sustainable Goods and Supplies, 56 Maine Street, will host a talk by Stephen Carr of WydeVue Residential Energy Services titled "Energy Savings, the Real Payback and Incentives," on Thursday, Oct. 11th, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The talk is free and open to the public.

"Just like you need to know the options and package deals when you buy a car, you should know the different programs related to home energy savings," says Stephen Carr, owner of WydeVue Residential Energy Services.  "Knowing which program to apply for and where to look for the information is the most challenging. How does it impact the financial payback and what are the incentives that coincide with the program?  We help answer those questions for you."

Energy evaluations (also called "energy audits") provide homeowners a "whole house" approach to reducing energy bills, improving comfort, reducing maintenance costs and improving the health of buildings.  By explaining the steps taken during an energy evaluation, Carr will help home owners understand where they can get the greatest return on investment for their home improvement dollar - before they invest in costly measures such as windows or heating systems that may not deliver the expected results.

WydeVue Residential Energy Services is a building science company that provides objective evaluations of a home's energy performance. Founder Stephen Carr has over 15 years of experience in Fire Services and Energy Conservation in Maine and New Hampshire.

Free informational handouts will be provided.  Seating is limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to call the store at 729-4050 to reserve a seat.

The talk is part of the F.W. Horch series on sustainable living.  Each monthly talk is held on the second Thursday of the month.  November's talk will feature Mike White of Island Carpentry, speaking on the topic of "zero energy" homes.
