Sixteen of the 18 towns in Lincoln County had an average voter turnout of 22% with a low of 14% for Wiscasset and a high of 30% for Newcastle. I couldn't get any information for Alna or Monhegan. This 22% turnout holds close to the 80/20 paredo rule, that is, 20% of the people get involved and 80% of the people do not get involved.
Of the 25,115 eligible voters in Lincoln County (minus Alna and Monhegan), Chris Johnson received 12% (2,938 votes) and Dana Dow received 10% (2,551 votes), a margin of 387 votes.
It is interesting to observe that for the Republican and Democratic parties in 16 towns, 13 towns have a Republican majority and 3 towns have a Democratic majority, or 34% and 28% respectively of eligible voters and 35% of the eligible voters are un-enrolled.
Our forefathers fought a Revolutionary War to give you and me the freedom to vote; yet 78% of eligible voters chose not to. OUR RIGHT TO VOTE IS A GIFT! Regardless of your party affiliation, I think most of you would agree that our beloved USA needs your vote.
