BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Downtown Association marked the Grand Re-opening of Fascination Station & Slot Car Junction at an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the business’s new location in Merrymeeting Plaza, 147 Bath Rd.

Slot Car Junction originally opened in the basement of The Tontine Mall in 2009. When Wilbur’s Chocolates moved out of the space on the main floor, Slot Car Junction moved upstairs and expanded into a toy store, with the addition of Fascination Station.

When looking for a new space, they spoke with Linda Smith, Business Development Manager for Brunswick. Linda shared information about programs that helped them keep the business in Brunswick and made them feel part of the community. When they found the space in Merrymeeting Plaza (previously Coldwater Creek) they knew it was right.

Co-owners Jeff Cooper and Cathy Piffath both have extensive experience in the outdoor industry at L.L.Bean, REI and Perception Kayak.

“Our Get Outdoors initiative is designed to encourage kids and their families to get outside and enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer.” explained Cooper, “Everything from snowshoeing and winter camping to biking, hiking and kayaking during the warmer months. Most of these activities will be free so be sure to inquire about upcoming events.” he said.

Visitors to the grand re-opening were invited to enjoy a free 10-minute sampler on each of the new slot car tracks from Ninco, Scalextric and Carrera.

“Our 6-lane Ninco track offers a 56’ long straight away and some exciting turns and curves!” said Cooper. Children were also invited to demo the new Pony Cycle for kids between the ages of 4 and 9.
