Brunswick native Kathleen Fleury, editor-in-chief of Down East Magazine, is the featured speaker on April 26 of the Brunswick Downtown Association speaker series.

The event begins at 7:50 a.m. at the Brunswick Hotel & Tavern, and will include a question and answer session. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Fleury was born in Brunswick and grew up on Cousins Island. She attended Middlebury College in Vermont and joined Down East Magazine in 2007. She’s the first female editor-in-chief in the publication’s 60-year history.

She resides in Camden with her partner, Noah, and their three children.

Fleury will talk about her plans for the magazine and her approach to attracting and retaining millennials in the workforce in Maine.

The BDA will present its Visitor Center Volunteer of the Year Award and winners of the Preservation Award will be announced.

The Preservation Awards recognize people and organizations that have created tangible value in the heart of the community through renovation or restoration of existing buildings or through new construction that restores and enhances the traditional streetscape.

The cost for the event is $20 per person. For more information, visit brunswickdowntown.org.
