Midcoast Youth Theater will present a summer double-feature of “Journey of the Noble Gnarble” and “Dear Edwina Jr.”

The shows includes cast members as young as 3-year-old through 5th grade.

The shows will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, and Friday, July 13, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. All shows are at the Orion Performing Arts Center at Mt. Ararat Middle School in Topsham.

“The Journey of the Noble Gnarble” is the group’s K-2 show and has a running time less than 30 minutes. Scout Martin leads the ensemble as the Noble Gnarble, who is trying to reach the top of the ocean. Along the way she encounters obstacles, fish trying to eat her and her own self-doubt. With the help of the Glinny Glims, she learns as long as she “keeps her fins up,” anything is possible.

“Dear Edwina Jr.” is the youth theater’s grade 3-5 show and is a girl-power musical for a new generation. The show follows the adventures of plucky advice giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly “Advice-a-Palooza”.

Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends through song.
