DAMARISCOTTA — Lincoln Theater will welcome an early co-writer of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” for the opening night screening of a new documentary about the children’s show host.

The screening begins at 7 p.m. on July 27.

Eliot Daley joined Fred Rogers in the early days of the show. Daley was president of the show’s production company and a co-writer, and he was also responsible for the company’s non-broadcast activities related to music, publishing and educational materials.

Following the screening of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, Daley will answer audience questions about Rogers and the show.

The program will benefit Hearty Roots, a Maine-based esteem-building outdoor adventure program led by professional counselors.

Tickets for the show are $8 for an adult and $6 for theater members and anyone under 18 — guests can also make a donation to the Hearty Roots organization, and the theater will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from that night’s concession sales to the group.

The box office opens 6 p.m. and tickets can only be purchased at the door.
