Thos. Moser opened its summer art exhibit last month, on view in its Freeport showroom. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to showcase Maine art, the exhibit features over 100 paintings, wood reliefs and wood assemblage from 20 Maine artists.

Showing for the first time together, Philip Barter, his son Matt Barter, and his son-in-law Brian Thayne Emerson, all paint in the American modernist tradition of Marsden Hartley.

Philip Barter was born in 1939 in Boothbay Harbor, and his studio gallery in Franklin is open by appointment. • Matt Barter was born in 1975 in Bar Harbor, and he lives in Brunswick, where he has a home studio and the Barter Art House gallery.

Emerson was born in 1975 and grew up in New Hampshire. He moved to Maine in 1996 and married Philip Barter’s daughter Colleen a year later. His expressionist paintings of Maine can be found in multiple galleries along the coast.

The collected works will be on display through Sunday, Oct. 28.
