YARMOUTH — Islandport Press announced it has signed Brunswick writer and artist Charlotte Agell and will release her children’s board book, “Mud, Sand, and Snow,” in the spring of 2019.

The book is a celebration of the four seasons, as a young girl explores, with her family and friends, mud in the spring, sand and wind in the summer, leaves and pumpkins in the fall and the joys of snow in winter. There will be rhyming text that invites toddlers to use all their senses to experience the world changing around them.

Author and illustrator Agell brings her trademark light and airy watercolors to this board book scheduled for release in April.

Inspired by a quartet of books about the seasons that Agell wrote and illustrated many years ago, this board book is aimed at toddlers.

“It has elements of each season that make it perfect to share with children who are learning words to describe the natural world,” said Islandport Press Editorial Director Melissa Kim. “Charlotte’s text tells one story, and the illustrations tell many others. Children will discover wonders in both the pictures and the words.”

Agell is the author and illustrator of twelve books for children and young adults. Her newest picture book,

“Maybe Tomorrow,” is scheduled to come out in March 2019. Originally from Sweden, Agell also grew up in Canada and Hong Kong. She is the mother of two grown children and is a longtime public school teacher. Charlotte loves living near the coast of Maine.
