BATH — Bohemian Rose Boutique on Front St. is hosting its second annual WISE Day on Saturday, Dec. 1. WISE is a non-profit working in a remote area of Zambia empowering vulnerable women and children with no resources to improve their lives and futures.

Owner Michelle Tibbetts will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from shop sales on Dec. 1 in support of the non-profit’s mission.

Tibbetts stated: ”From the first time we heard the WISE story, we wanted to do something special for this wonderful organization helping women and students in Zambia. Last year we held our first ever WISE Day. Not only was it successful, but it was wonderful to see our customers engage with the story.”

In addition, WISE Board President Joanne Bollinger will be on hand with a large assortment of baskets made by the women of the project and will be available to chat with customers about the organization’s work. Originally formed by a small group of women from Maine, WISE — Women’s Initiatives that Strengthen and Empower — now has board members and supporters throughout the US and abroad.

“Knowing that WISE had its beginnings with women from Maine gave us a strong connection to the project,” Tibbetts said. “And those gorgeous baskets that the WISE women create are a real draw.”
